Located in ZIP code 20895, 20896

Population approx.19,000

Kensington and Garrett Park were once thought to be an area for a good summer retreat for DC residents.  It didn’t take long for people to be drawn to the area year-round. Kensington became an incorporated area in the 1890’s.  Just outside the Beltway, it is a popular area for a commute down Connecticut Ave. into DC. Following a tributary of the Potomac River, Rock Creek Park provides parkland throughout the Kensington area. Made up of primarily single-family homes, one can find homes on large lots near the park down to small 2 bedroom houses built after WWII. Antique Row, near the MARC train depot, is a community landmark.

Garrett Park, MD was named after Robert W. Garrett, President of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad and it celebrated 110 years of self-government in 2008.  Located on the west side of Rock Creek from Kensington, the town is known for its turn of the century homes as well as its close-knit community located in a very convenient location.
