Rockville, MD is the county seat of Montgomery County and has a population in the incorporated part of about 68,000. Combined with the unincorporated areas with Rockville addresses, the Rockville area has a population of around 110,000. Originally considered far from DC, it now offers an easy commute to DC, VA or elsewhere in MD. Rockville also has a very healthy employment base and their efforts to attract businesses has paid dividends and allows many to live and work nearby. The downtown area has recently had a revival with many new shops and restaurants. It is surrounded by older houses, ranging from small WWII bungalows to spacious Victorians. Around that has come the construction of the past 50 years, primarily houses, but with quite a few townhouses and condos, and some rental developments.
